Here ICL were to design, install and commission a comprehensive lighting control system that is not just energy efficient but easily controllable. The client also had the requirement on this project for the landlord to have the capability to dim the lighting in the visitor centre and to be able to run regular emergency lighting tests with ease.
As always working closely with the client and landlord we were able to design and install a system that fully met all the pre-requisites set. The ability to use fully addressable switching of all luminaries was achieved using intelligent C-BUS relay and dimmer modules. The provision of the dimmer modules allowed us to incorporate the dimming facility required by the landlord in the visitor centre. The lighting can be controlled by the landlord in various ways. PIR movement detection was used in designated areas with lighting time schedules also adopted to cover these and other areas. Light Level Sensors were incorporated into the system which allows the landlord to monitor the ambient light levels in different areas thus affording more control of which internal and external lighting areas should be on/off.
For control of the whole system a Touch Screen was incorporated into the Reception Desk of the visitor centre, from here the lighting can be switched manually, the time schedules amended or the light level requirement of an area adjusted thus enabling the landlord the most efficient means of saving energy and reducing costs whilst maintaining the correct lighting. The screen also has the ability to set and recall lighting scenes using a single touch, this allows the reception desk to select the required lighting environment for an area depending on the use I.E. presentation, meeting or display.
The touch screen has also been programmed to perform emergency lighting tests, these are easily accessed by the engineer and a single touch is all that is required to run a test for a predetermined duration.
